Signature Bass – Metallic Grey – Fender Jazz Style

By Jamie | February 27, 2008

THIS ITEM HAS BEEN SOLD!

For sale, a very nice and unique Signature Bass with a Allparts Neck (with a Fender Jazz label).

This is the 91/92 body style that put them out of business, because it is a true fender copy even down to the neck pocket dimensions, which are normally 3/4 on all earlier Signature models.

You are bidding on a Signature Jazz Bass. It is in mint condition.there are no scratches anywhere – there are a couple of very small (too small to photograph) dings in the lower part of the body but unnoticeable. The wood is solid alder and not plywood like the cheap oriental imports (Alder is one of the premier sound woods that is extensively used by the higher end guitar makers like Sadowsky and Fender because of its sound qualities , it sounds warmer than the very crisp swamp ash), and the neck holes are for a standard 4 hole neck plate.

The neck pocket has micro-tilt adjustment and the bridge is a string through body or regular set up. Quite versatile. The beautiful extremely hard and unusual grey Metallic satin sheen Polyurethane / Polyester is as described above in mint condition and has no issues.

The metallic in this paint is so fine that it is barely noticeable, only from up close and when the sun hits it., unlike some crude metallics that use bigger metallic particles. The color itself is realy classy looking especially when paired up with one of the block inlay necks. If you are into punk or grunge this is NOT for you. But who knows maybe it is. You don’t see too many of these colors, so it’s somewhat rare.

The pickguard is a white pearl and looks beautiful with this bass! The pickups are standard Signature Axis JB pickups ,handwound ,epoxy potted and foam backed, quite punchy, and loud .The pickups are the same size, not staggered like the Fenders or the earlier Axis. The body weight is 6lb 8oz. I don’t know the exact date of manufacture because I don’t have the legend to read the numbers by, but the company was founded in 87-88 and defunct in 92 .There is a inspection sticker in the control cavity that reads JUL 92 .;Signature was a now defunct high end guitar manufacturer out of Cranston RI. The list on some models was 1300$ in the early 90’s when they went out of business because of lawsuit threats from fender.

Never heard of Signature?
